Delete your Owee account

You can delete your account in the app, or ask us by email. Deleting can’t be undone.

Delete it in the app

Open Owee and tap your picture at the top of Home. This opens Settings.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
Read what will happen.
Slide Swipe to delete all the way across.

You’ll see “Your account has been deleted. You’ve been signed out.” Changed your mind? Tap Keep my account instead.

Settle up first. Owee can’t close an account that still owes money or is still owed money. If that’s you, Owee shows which groups are not square, and nothing is deleted. Settle up in those groups, then try again.

Delete it without the app

Email support@getowee.com with the subject Delete my account. Include the phone number you use for Owee.

We’ll check that the number is yours, then delete your account within 30 days. We’ll email you when it’s done. If you still owe or are owed money in a group, we’ll let you know first.

What gets deleted

Your profile name. It becomes “Deleted user”.
Your phone number, your profile photo and your saved payment methods, like a UPI ID.
Your sign-in. You’re signed out on every device.
Your iPhone’s notification token, so Owee can’t send notifications to your phone.
Your place in every group. You leave them all.
Groups where you were the last person and nothing was ever split. These are deleted, with any files in them.
Your purchase record with RevenueCat, the service that handles Owee Pro purchases.
Your usage data. We ask PostHog, our analytics service, to delete everything linked to your account.

Most of this happens straight away. If one of these services is down, Owee keeps retrying until it’s done.

What stays

Splits and payments in shared groups. Your friends still need their balances to add up. So splits and payments you were part of stay in those groups, with any receipts attached. They keep the name you had in that group.
Security logs. We keep these for up to 90 days to protect the service, then delete them.
Anonymous usage data. If you had “Share usage data” turned off, what we recorded was never linked to you. We can’t trace it back to you, so it can’t be deleted per person.

Cancel your subscription too

Deleting your account does not cancel Owee Pro. Apple or Google bills you, so cancel it with them. Do this before or after you delete your account.

iPhone: open the Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → Owee → Cancel Subscription.

Android: open Google Play → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Owee → Cancel subscription.
